In 1903, Austrian banker, writer and occultist Gustav Meyrink 1868-1932 wrote a novella, “Petroleum, Petroleum”

After the last detonation, the oil was to flow from the underground deposit in Mexico into the ocean and form a glass surface, which continues to grow, taken by the gulf stream, soon covering the entire Atlantic surface. The coasts were barren and the population retreated into the interior of the land.

Instead of being arrested, in Meyrink’s story, Jessegrim is hired as a consultant. He says: “If the oil continues to spill as it does, it will have covered the oceans of the world in 27 to 29 weeks and there will be no more rains, ever, as water can not evaporate anymore. At best, it will rain petroleum.”

In Meyrink’s story, the perpetrator is motivated by blind hatred of humanity: The destruction of the “crowd” was seen by Meyrink/Jessegrim as possible only through a “god-given scourge” – meaning, the oil apocalypse.

Meyrink was frequenting such circles. Not only the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, but also the “Germania” lodge, the first lodge of the Theosophist Society. It was founded by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, who also founded the magazine “Lucifer”.

I have resisted writing anything, because , I wanted to be fair to BP. After all, I don’t know jack, about oil drilling…period. Especially at depths of 4900 feet plus.

But Today, June 8 2010, the catastrophe is in it’s 50th day, and I am now at a point where I  have grown angry. Angry at BP for not taking the necessary precautions they should have, to prevent something like this from occurring. Angry that they are acting to this day, in what appears to be a haphazard, and relaxed manner.

For days the rumors have been swirling about, mismanagement, rushed work, safety systems that had mechanical and or electrical issues that were not addressed, flagrant disregard for procedure, finger pointing between BP and the owner of the Rig Trans Ocean,  oh and let us not forget the 11 People killed, and an environment damaged  to a point that is nightmarish.

Clean up crews, that appear to be minimalistic , are already getting ill from the inhalation of Methane, Benzene. Rumors are also circulating that these crews, most of which are privately contracted, are not being issued sufficient HazMat gear. BP has determined that situation is under control, and that Hazardous Material equipment is not needed.

Today once again, June 8, BP  claims they have capped the flow, and claim to be catching an estimated 5000 barrels of oil a day from the gargantuan flow. I have seen the live video of the flow, and I have to admit, that the estimates that up to 100,000 barrels a day are spewing forth, are unfortunately appearing to be an accurate estimation. If the estimate of 100,000 barrle estimate is correct, than BP is capturing 5% of it!!

I’m saddened every time I watch the live video, saddened, and angered.

The rate at which oil is gushing from this well, is substantial. even more so since BP cut the broken and bent, riser pipe  which was to a degree, restricting the flow.

So the first in a series of questions that should be asked:

1. Why did BP wait 40+ days to cap this well?
BP’s first concern should be the environmental damage that is being wreaked upon the gulf. However their activity seems to support the theory that they are working not on the premise of damage control, but on the premise of saving the well  first, and placing disaster control in the second spot.

2. I have looked closely at the broken Deep water Horizon riser as well as the supporting structure (Blow Out Preventer) for it. Another good question would be” Why doesn’t the BOP have a manual valve shutoff  in place, designed to be used in a disaster scenario such as this one?” Something simple, that could be turned by an ROV? This more than anything amazes me. If you are going to drill a well like this at this depth, why would not have redundant and generous safety systems in place?

3. The Russians in the early stages of this disaster, offered assistance in blowing the well up, completely cutting the flow. They claimed to have done it a few times successfully. in the past, but this offer of assistance was turned down by BP and the administration in D.C. Why?

4. Today On June 8, Reports are now coming in from Grande Isle LA. Reports of a substantial military presence, a presence that is restricting media, reporters, photographers. This leads one to believe that perhaps the situation is alot worse than BP and or the administration would have us believe. Why is there a military presence? Why aren’t they assisting in a massive cleanup effort?

I have to admit, and yes you can call me conspiracy theorist, but something smells  about this entire disaster, and it isn’t the smell of Crude I’m talking about.

BP Has done very little for all intent and purposes, with the exception of cutting the riser, which increased the flow of oil, and has sprayed massive amounts of oil dispersant into the water which is toxic in itself.  Can anyone argue that BP is intentionally either, dragging their feet in resolving this, or has lost complete control of the situation and will not admit it.

In addition, The Obama administration, also seems to have left BP to their own devices  in solving this disaster. One has to ask why the Federal Government is not more involved, especially at this stage 50 days into the disaster. Where is the Corps Of Engineers, why aren’t other oil companies involved in a solution?

This well, it has been stated by BP, as well as noted scientists, that if something is not done, will flow for 9000 days! The relief well solution, which BP claims will stop the flow, cannot be fully implemented until August. Take a look at the flow of oil in the live cams above. Can you imagine this flow running until August? And August is an optimistic estimate.

I Pray for the people in the gulf. I pray that a solution presents itself very soon. I suspect, and it is intuition, that if this continues even in the near term, the consequences will be dire.

The Catalan police are refreshingly friendly. But if the time for action comes, whose side will they be on?

The enormous bald detective in beach shorts took the camera from my wife. “Let me see.” He scrolled through the photographs, just taken, of me being detained at the campsite gates. He scrolled past, to see a photo of a limousine convoy, whooshing up the hill to Bilderberg. “I don’t like this,” he said, and waved a huge, disgruntled hand towards the conference hotel.

“Do you know how much this is costing?” asked Hannah. “Do you think the Spanish economy can afford all this?” Grimly, the enormous bald detective started deleting images of his comrades with his giant thumb. “Your opinion,” he growled, “is right.”

He handed the camera back to Hannah. “But you’ve deleted my best shots!” The detective whistled to his comrades, who were busy sniffing a jar of salted olives they had found in my car boot. He had them turn around, facing away from the camera. “Go head,” he rumbled. “Take photographs.”

What a difference a year makes. Last year in Vouliagmeni when I tried covering the 2009 Bilderberg meeting, I had Greek policemen yelling “No fotografia!” at me at every turn. I was arrested, tailed, harassed, rearrested, yelled at, bundled into squad cars, lied to, intimidated, wrestled with and hounded round Athens like I was John Dillinger.

This year, the police have been deployed in the same extraordinary numbers, but they are smiling, rolling their eyes at the rigmarole; the riot police are giving the thumbs-up to protesters and honking their horns as they come round the “awareness roundabout” at the foot of the hotel.

“The police have been laughing and chatting,” says Daniel Turon, a Spanish psycho-sociologist, here in Sitges to psycho-sociologise Bilderberg. “One of them said he had read a book about Bilderberg; another said, ‘Yes, we understand.’” The Catalan police, he says, “have a different sensibility” from what you may expect. “They are Catalan. Their minds are independent.”

Their minds, perhaps, have been focused by recent pay disputes. Two days ago, the police were on strike in Barcelona: they are facing a pay cut next month, as part of Spain’s “austerity measures” (what the IMF calls “fiscal consolidation”) – and disgruntlement abounds.

Yesterday, the Spanish newspaper El Público quoted the Catalan police union’s estimate, that “the mere deployment of the Mossos d’Esquadra entails costs of €150,000 for each of the four days of the Bilderberg meeting”. This union has lodged a formal complaint about the misuse of resources in guarding Bilderberg.

El Público shares the union’s concern: “The members of the Bilderberg club have not been elected by the citizens [of this country] in a democratic process, but the costs of the meeting is being met by them.”

Ageing Bilderberg sleuth, Jim Tucker, says the Bilderberg group always reimburses the host nation for costs incurred. But if that’s the case, the police are simply an army for hire.

Turon is keen to humanise the officers facing him: “Look at the eyes of the police,” he says. “Look at the person who is there. They want to be with us.”

“Your position is hyper-naive,” laughs his friend, one of the organisers of the Spanish protests, Dídac S.-Costa. “They are puppets. They are nothing. They are a distraction. They are the cashiers at the supermarket; we need to confront the supermarket itself. This is a systemic problem.” Dídac is a sociologist.

“We need to use the tools of the system against it. We need a brave judge, a brave lawyer. We need another Garzón” (Baltasar Garzón is the Spanish judge who issued the extradition request for General Pinochet). “We need to use the legal weapons at our disposal; to find a way, as the Spanish say, between the sword and the wall.”

Ivan Torres, from Maresme (whom we met yesterday, near his roundabout bed), found himself caught last night between the sword and the wall, up in the hills above the Hotel Dolce Sitges. He was out with Rafa Palacios, the founder of the Stop Secrets Movement, trying to stop some secrets. A spotter on the hotel roof saw them crawling along; minutes later a police helicopter arrived, and officers swarmed the hills to arrest them. The policemen looked at the cameras, looked at the footage, then handed it back undeleted.

Ivan and Rafa were brought before the comisario of the Sitges police. The comisario told them frankly what he thought of them. “We admire you,” he said. “We are really sad because we don’t want to have a confrontation here.” And, like his giant bald underling from earlier, he gestured to the hotel. “I don’t like these people. All I want is a smooth operation in Sitges. The people up there,” said the comisario, “I really don’t like.”

Rafa says that on Thursday, as police and activists squared off for the first time and as Rafa took the megaphone, it was this same comisario who stood in front of the cordon. “You have a heart under your badge”, cried Rafa, “you have a brain under your hat. You are the ones we will be drinking with after the football, not the ones up the hill!”

Rafa reached out his hands towards the cordon. People who witnessed his speech say this moment defined the subsequent dynamic between the protesters and the police. “You should be protecting us, not them!” Rafa implored. “We are the people. You are the people. You are one of us!”

Rafa says he spoke directly to the comisario when he said: “A time is coming when you may be asked to use violence against us. A time is coming when you will have to choose sides. You will have to decide.” And Rafa says he saw tears in the eyes of the comisario.

The European Central Counter-party (EuroCCP) has created a service offering central counter party clearing of trades in US stocks and US exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to European trading firms.

EuroCCP’s new service gives European trading firms an opportunity to trade US securities on a variety of pan-European platforms during European trading hours and to settle those trades in DTC. By offering a service where US securities settle directly at the US CSD, EuroCCP provides European trading firms with cost-effective post-trade solution.

Its clearing service for US issues allows EuroCCP to extend the efficiency, cost-saving and counterparty risk protection benefits it already provides to clients’ European-listed securities transactions to US stock and US ETF transactions.

Initially, the US securities eligible for clearing through EuroCCP include approximately 100 stock issues and 50 ETFs. EuroCCP expects over time to expand the scope of eligible instruments to further equities, ETFs, and to ADRs.

EuroCCP’s clearing service for eligible US issues is open to any trading venue cleared by EuroCCP that offers trading in the securities. Trading will be against US dollars. The new service increases the number of markets cleared by EuroCCP to 19.

It was bound to happen eventually, but the question is: How far will the current SEC charges against GS  go?  We know already that GS is in bed with the congress, the senate, Obama, Bush and what have you. Is this a dog and pony show? It’s seems rather coincidental that this probe happened just when Barack Obama  is ushering in his his “Bank Reform“.

The antics of Goldman Sachs have been getting by on a ‘wink and a nod’ from the regulators and the market for some time. Why? Because they are powerful, and because like Lehman and their off balance sheet frauds, they are almost ALL doing it on Wall Street as part of the franchise. Goldman has just been a pig about it, and probably burned some insiders and powerful investors in their fraudulent Abacus trade.
